IU DAY: ROB LIU
IU Day is a day where campus organizations set up booths to show students and alumni what they are about. Click here for more about IU Day.
Working under Indiana University's Student Affairs' Graphic Designing team, I was given the task of creating an illustration, logo, poster and a banner for Robert Liu's Memorial Endowment. I also created posters, banners, stickers, and social media advertisement for organizations such as the Veteran Support Services and the Scholarships for Students.
MY EXPERIENCE
Of all the IU Day materials I worked on, working on Robert Liu's content was the most rewarding. A key part of creating these content was the research I did on Robert-- What was his personality? What was his hobbies? What social organizations was he a part of? What type of music did he like? I found out as much as I could about Robert so that I can portray him as accurately as possible.

As an artist, I value creating meaningful work with emotions that would touch others. After seeing so many of my works around campus on IU Day, I couldn't help but be humbled. For the first time, I got to meet my clients and saw them use the materials I worked on. Reality hit me and I realized that my work meant something to them. People were being affected by my work. This was especially evident with the Rob Liu content. After meeting Rob Liu's friends and father, and seeing how much this particular work meant to them, I got the "this is why I do what I do" moment.

I didn't personally know Rob, but I know that he was a colorful, creative, intelligent, multitalented individual that has touched many lives including mine.
